Ethos
Increased Access
We always try to make the most of what you already have. This may mean encouraging access to areas that are currently restricted, or improving areas of the school that are dilapidated and underused.
Social Spaces
As play is primarily, but not exclusively, a social activity. A range of social spaces are an essential component of quality play. We try to design social spaces, as well as places of rest and refuge, so that a majority of children will be able to use them at any one time.

Journeys
A good quality play environment will be made up of a complex network of interconnecting places and journeys.
Multiple Materials
Too many school playgrounds are unforgiving, asphalt spaces. Our designs improve the space by incorporating natural features such as planting, trees, multiple natural stone surface materials, and timber.

Playground Equipment

Our playground equipment is usually constructed on-site and is unique to each project. We use timber, where possible, to give a soft, natural feel to the space. Our structures are always designed with an understanding of the school's needs and budget. These could be anything from basic raised beds to complex tree houses with climbing nets and slides.

Take a look at our PROJECTS page for some examples.

Safety

Above all, we want children to have fun at playtimes, but in a safe environment. We ensure that our projects meet with regulatory requirements. All of our playground projects will be inspected by RoSPA certified inspectors, where applicable. However, we do emphasise the need to introduce children to elements of risk and challenge in the playground. These are key to a child's development.
